Dyeing Hair

About Header Image

The ARTAS® Robot cannot visualize white hair. If you have a significant amount of white hair, or are 50 or older, please do one of the following in the late-afternoon/evening prior to your Robotic FUE procedure:

Option 1 (Preferred)

  • Go to a hair salon the late-afternoon/evening prior to your scheduled procedure and have your hair dyed, preferably brown, dark brown or black. (Try to do this as late in the day as possible)
  • When you get home, shampoo your entire scalp vigorously with your regular shampoo to remove any residue of the hair color on your scalp
  • Shampoo thoroughly one more time the morning of your procedure

Option 2

  • Purchase: “Just for Men” for beards
  • Choose either brown, dark brown or black
  • The evening prior to your procedure:
    1. apply “Just for Men” as directed
    2. massage thoroughly into your scalp
    3. leave on for 10 minutes
    4. rinse thoroughly until water runs clear
    5. shampoo your entire scalp vigorously with your regular shampoo to remove any residue of the hair color on your scalp
  • Repeat above one more time the morning of your procedure.

Option 3

  • Purchase “L’Oréal Paris Excellence Crème” Hair Color
  • Choose either brown, dark brown or black
  • Use “L’Oréal” as directed the evening prior to your procedure
  • Shampoo your scalp thoroughly the morning of your procedure to remove any residual dye that may be on your scalp
NOTE: If you have blond hair and don’t want your whole head dyed a darker color, or if you simply prefer, it is OK to just dye the back and sides of your scalp, as this is the area that will be shaved for your procedure. If you can come by our office the day before your procedure, the doctor can shave the area at that time to make is easier to identify.
